HOW DO YOU BECOME A WITCH?

Merry Meet Seeker!

There are essentially two requirements for those seeking to become a Witch. The first requirement is internal and relates to your heart, your soul and your character. The second requirement is external and relates to training.

Let me explain.

Internal: Witchcraft (also referred to as the Craft of the Wise) is a positive, earthy religion dedicated to worshipping the Goddess and the God. Witches respect and honor all of Creation as an expression of the Divine. Witches are responsible, humble, kind, compassionate and tolerant in their dealings with others. The Craft requires of Witches to be self-disciplined in their actions, regardless of whether the actions are on the mundane, spiritual or magickal levels. This is roughly speaking a Witch’s Code of Conduct.

Hence, the very first thing you need to study, dear Seeker, is you! Understand your own internal strengths and weaknesses. Work at building on your strengths and addressing your weaknesses. Also, try living your life like a Witch.

External: Key to becoming a Witch is knowledge. To obtain the knowledge, you will require training. There are three options open to you.

The first option is attending a Wicca 101 course – either in person or on the internet. If web based training is the route you wish to follow, choose a course where you can interact with your fellow students and with your instructor.

The second option is self-training. There is a lot of information available both in print and on the internet. Remember to be open-minded, to question, and to rely on your intuition when assessing the information offered to you.

The third option is to join a coven. I generally warn Seekers to take care in selecting a coven. You need to be comfortable with the practices, the ethics and the interaction between coven members.
